Lucas Hunold

Stein is more than just a school - for many it is a home that connects across generations. Stein proudly presents: Lucas Hunold, who, as a second-generation Altsteiner, is already deeply rooted in our school. His father already spent his youth here, and Lucas himself has left his mark on Stein not only as a pupil, but also as a technology enthusiast and tinkerer.

Whether software, hardware, sound or technology - behind the scenes, he ensures that everything runs smoothly. His knowledge grew with every year until he finally became what he is today: IT Director at Schule Schloss Stein. But his connection to Stein goes far beyond cables and codes. As an Educator in the boys' group in the lower and middle school, he has also enriched boarding school life with his calm and empathetic manner - probably also because he himself was once in the same shoes as our current pupils. He is now studying social pedagogy in Munich and we are very excited to see what the future holds for Lucas and us.

Why did you decide to study social pedagogy?
I really wanted to work with young people and support them in their development. Social pedagogy allows me to combine theory and practice and really achieve something meaningful. I particularly like the fact that I have a lot of freedom during my studies to try out my own projects and implement them directly with children and teenagers.

What do you particularly enjoy about working at the boarding school?
Above all, I enjoy the versatility and the proximity to the students. Every day is different and I can work creatively - be it in IT, at events or in the educational field. I find it particularly fulfilling to watch the boys grow, take on responsibility and come together as a community.

What do you attach particular importance to when working with the students?
It is important to me to engage with young people on equal terms and to take them seriously. Open communication, honesty, and mutual trust are key for me. I also want to give the boys space to develop and implement their own ideas, because responsibility grows best where real participation is possible.
What values are particularly important to you as a boarding school teacher?
For me, integrity, respect, responsibility and development take center stage. It is important to me that the boys learn to treat each other and their environment with respect. I want to set an example that you can overcome almost any challenge with a positive attitude, clear principles and a dose of humor.

Sebastian Ziegler about Lucas Hunold

"Lucas Hunold is a dyed in the wool Steiner, his father and sister were also at the school. He himself has always kept in touch in some concrete form after his Abitur in 2014, whether he was providing technical support, helping to organize the literature week or looking after an entire group at the boarding school in an emergency situation. He has covered the whole spectrum with dedication, humor and great loyalty; his special concern is the social activities of the students, whether in the fire department, the Red Cross or the technical relief organization. He also manages the school's entire IT network, which he set up and implemented himself."
