Best of blog articles 2025

January 2026 | Ida-Lena Zoglmann

Since February 2024, a new article has appeared on our blog every two weeks – sometimes with a look back at the history of Schule Schloss Stein, sometimes with very personal portraits of people who currently shape, have shaped and continue to shape our school community.

We are delighted that this blog series is so popular: The feedback is consistently positive, many guest posts are particularly touching and show that we are able to live an incomparable community here. All of this is one thing above all else for us – it’s great motivation.

So let’s take a look at the most-read blog articles of 2025 and say: thank you for reading, sharing and recommending. And of course, we are always open to your suggestions and ideas.

Stone in history - a journey through the decades

Our “Stein in History” series takes you on a journey through the past of Schule Schloss Stein. Decade by decade, we tell you about developments, the spirit of the times and special moments that have shaped our school – often supplemented by very personal and valuable guest contributions.

The graduating class of 1965

A very special look at a graduating class whose memories are still alive today. The reason for this article was the 60th anniversary of the Abitur, for which a group of the year group visited the Schloss Stein school again in the summer.

The reunion was an occasion for great joy and nostalgia, but also offered room for thoughtful moments. The guest contribution by Wolfgang Tillmanns (A-level 1965), who shares his memories of his school days and thus preserves an impressive piece of school history, is particularly enriching.

The 1980s

A decade of change – both socially and at school. The article is based on an interview by Philip Remy (Altsteiner, Abitur 1982) with Angi Ziegler and paints a vivid picture of this time.

Topics such as the fall of the Berlin Wall, the state recognition of the Schloss Stein school, legendary productions by the theater group and lavish carnival celebrations characterize this retrospective.

“Yes, the carnival and theater times were always the happiest,” reads a quote from the then general manager Olaf Ziegler, which makes the special spirit of the 1980s palpable to this day.

The 1990s

Between new beginnings and new perspectives: The 1990s saw profound changes that had a lasting impact on Schule Schloss Stein.

The article contains an interview with our current General Manager Sebastian Ziegler, conducted by Anna Lang (Q13), student and scholarship holder. Sebastian Ziegler started at Stein in 1992 as commercial director and with teaching economics, law and accounting; he also had to stand in for Olaf Ziegler in his overall management role time and again, as substitutions became necessary due to health issues.

The economic sector was also introduced in this decade. The article is supplemented by a very readable guest article by Marc Wein (Altsteiner, Abitur 1994).

The 2000s

A new millennium brings new challenges – and new opportunities. In this article, Sebastian Ziegler also recalls a deep turning point: his father Olaf Ziegler died in 2001 after a long, serious illness.

At the same time, the 2000s marked the first full decade under his leadership (officially since 1997). This period saw the introduction of the morning silent period, Tuesday meetings, the increasing internationalization of the boarding school, the Literature and Media Week and the Internet as a new, albeit initially slow and costly, window to the world.

A wonderful guest article by Nora Diepold (Altsteiner, Abitur 2008) rounds off this review.

The 2010

A decade of digitalization, internationalization and continuous development – still very present for many. The major change in school policy from G9 to G8 also had a significant impact on these years.

The article features numerous high-quality guest contributions, including from
Theresia Schilling (Headmistress 2019-2025),
Jenny Weitz (Altsteiner, Abitur 2011),
Lucas Hunold (Altsteiner, Abitur 2014),
Nico Lorenz (Altsteiner, Abitur 2017) and
Friedrich Hörmann (Altsteiner, Abitur 2019).
