The SChool change

February | Veronika Koch, Headmistress & Ida-Lena Zoglmann

Growing together with the Schloss Stein School

The change from Year 4 to Year 5 is a big step – for children and parents alike. At Schule Schloss Stein, we accompany this transition with experience, clarity and a lot of personal attention.

As a state-recognized private grammar school, we offer a modern languages branch and an economics branch. Pupils can attend us as day pupils from the region or as boarders.

“Our new students enrich us – together we continue to grow.”

Requirements for the transfer

For admission to the 5th grade, students need the grade point average of the secondary school leaving certificate or a successful trial lesson. We also offer this in conjunction with a trial week at our school.

The next trial lessons will take place from May 19 to 21. It will be accompanied by experienced teachers in a professional and gentle manner. It is important to us that children gain confidence in this situation and can show what they are capable of.

The trial lessons are best combined with trial days or a trial week at the boarding school. In this way, the children not only get to know the lessons, but also life and the community here.

Security and orientation for the “little ones”

Our youngest pupils in particular benefit from the family atmosphere. Very small classes, fixed contact persons and clear structures ensure that they are well received.

Older pupils take on responsibility, teachers have time for individual support and a supportive community is created in the boarding school. This environment provides security – and creates the basis for independent learning and personal growth. Homework supervision is included in the timetable in the lower school, so that individual support is guaranteed.

Fresh and varied food from the in-house kitchen and a wide range of afternoon activities including homework supervision round off the offer.

“In contrast to the opportunities in large classes at state schools, our pupils have the chance to arrive in the secondary school world without systemic overload and ultimately learn to recognize and use their potential.”

Transfer from other grades

A later change of school can also make sense – and contribute to positive development.

Pupils come to us for a variety of reasons:

  • High-achieving young people who are underchallenged in large classes and are looking for more of a challenge
  • Pupils who can better develop their potential in smaller learning groups and benefit from more support
  • Young people who want a clear structure, binding support or a fresh start

Our very small classes, the close supervision by dedicated teachers and the structured boarding and day school life allow for very individual support.

The prerequisite for a change is a personal initial or introductory meeting with our Head of School Veronika Koch and our General Manager Sebastian Ziegler.

If this is successful for both sides, we then offer a free trial week. This gives pupils a realistic experience of whether our school is a good fit for them – professionally, personally and personally.

“We see and value the whole person, not just the student’s performance. We are convinced that this enables everyone to achieve their best possible success.”

Sebastian Ziegler | General Manager
